Return to the seventies: Unique LFW SS11

Glamour in its most dramatic form, TopShop’s ‘Unique’ collection has taken us back in time to the ethereal and decadent seventies, where the hair is wild and unruly and the fabrics were floaty and romantic.

With the old Eurostar Terminal as the location, the curved glass and concrete structure provided a powerful contrast as the models strutted out in looks of sheer extravagance; draped in floaty fabrics, metallic prints and heavily embellished with sparkling crystals. The collection was consistent in its modern design with a seventies aesthetic, in neutral tones of nudes, blacks, reds and whites. Hemlines were of all lengths and cuts and mixed with glam rock sequins, and heavy fringing. The look was perfectly paired with round mirrored sunglasses, leather necklaces and clear perspex platforms- my tip to be a highly sought after piece from this seasons collection (I can see my credit card bill now!)
It is refreshing to see a collection of this calibre come from a high street store. With such vision and clear concepts, it is easy to see why it is so highly regarded within the industry and why TopShop is still one of the most coveted shows on the schedule.
