Sky High

A heel so high that could even scare Victoria Beckham, the ‘Nine inch heel’ will be released next year, billed as the tallest heel available on the market.
The Sky Heel, aptly named due to where it sends you, was “fuelled by customer demand to mimic the celebrity look. The trend is bigger, bigger, bigger -- and the Sky Heel is the biggest of them all."

The release of a digital impression (photos of the actual heel are not available yet) coincide with new studies suggesting that women's passion for killer heels have caused them to receive medical attention or even be rushed to hospital. Researchers say that a fifth of females have gone to such extreme lengths to wear trendy shoes that they have ended up twisting their ankle or tearing a tendon. And a third have fallen flat on their face as a result of their heels, with many damaging their teeth and breaking their wrists.

The Sky heel will be available in sparkly red or gold and cost under $100 a pair so now every sidewalk will be our catwalk.

A very happy birthday for Marc by Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs is launching a ‘Greatest Hits’ collection in honour of the tenth anniversary of his diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs

Arriving in stores next year, the capsule collection will feature highlights and favourites from the label’s women’s and men’s line since its start in 2001. This is great news for fans of the label that now have the chance to purchase items they may have previously missed out on.

The diffusion line, brainchild of Jacobs' business partner, Robert Duffy was almost a no-go. Duffy reveals to WWD “there was a lot of resistance to it…I had to pitch it to everybody underneath (Bernard Arnault), and everybody said no."

Get ready to stock your wardrobes with favourites from both the men's and women's collections. Women's will find the military jacket, military vest, military pants, military skirt, dresses, silk scarves, printed t-shirts and the iconic lacquer fruit belts, pins, and necklaces. And for the male fans out there, the collection includes the military jacket, twill shorts, pants, t-shirts and short sleeve Oxfords.
The collection will also include specially printed tees to celebrate the landmark, emblazoned with illustrations and 'Marc by Marc Jacobs is ten'.

Carey Mulligan is Harper's Bazaar Woman of the Year

Harper’s Bazaar UK have released their annual best dressed list, and this year the highly prestigious title has gone to British actress Carey Mulligan.

The 25-year-old Oscar nominee has beaten out some of the world’s finest dressed celebrities, models, designers and even last years winner, Victoria Beckham, who took out second place.

Carey’s has rarely been off the fashion radar in the past year. Her style is described by the magazine’s judge, fashion designer Erdem Moralioglu, as “So Sixties French New Wave – like a Godard starlet – but totally modern.”

However, known for cutting-edge red carpet frocks from the likes of Prada and Ellie Saab, Mulligan confesses that she isn’t that interested in fashion and credits her stylist Tina Laakkonen for her great sense of style.  “I don't really care that much about fashion, I just have a brilliant stylist who dresses me, and in my own life, I'm pretty simple. So that side of things has been wearing."

The judging panel, which included the magazine's editor, Lucy Yeomans, Sienna Miller, Stephen Jones, Kim Hersov and Erdem Moralioglu, selected the Top 20 women who represent all that is great about British style today.

The list as chosen by the panel:

1. Carey Mulligan
2. Victoria Beckham
3. Yasmin Le Bon
4. Alexa Chung
5. Florence Welch
6. Kristin Scott Thomas
7. Tilda Swinton
8. Natalia Vodianova
9. Natalie Massenet
10. Samantha Cameron
11. Gwyneth Paltrow
12. Andrea Dellal
13. Kate Moss
14. Bianca Jagger
15. Stella McCartney
16. Sienna Miller

The Melbourne Cup is perhaps the second most fashionable event in Australia (behind Rosemount Australian Fashion Week of course) and not even a little rain could stop stylish racegoers from donning a fabulous frock.
